Cirque du Soleil - Kurios

Why see Cirque du Soleil - Kurios?

Portland Welcomes A CABINET OF CURIOSITIES

The iconic performing arts empire unveils its 35th full-scale production, Kurios, stopping in Grand Prairie this April. Taking on a distinctly steampunk theme, Kurios takes inspiration from the latter half of the 19th century, when railroads made travel more accessible, and inventions like the telegraph improved long-distance communications.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM KURIOS

Prepare to have your world turned completely upside down and to have your perceptions challenged, in this brand-new offering from Cirque du Soleil. The action takes place within a curio cabinet of an ambitious inventor, who defies the laws of time, space and physics in order to transform reality around him. Suddenly, the visible becomes intangible, perspectives are thrown out of balance, and his world is literally turned upside down in a place that's as beautiful as it is mysterious.

Marvel at the amazing feats of prowess on display; from aerial acrobatics, to steampunk clowns and contortionists, this is a darker side of Cirque du Soleil!

DID YOU KNOW?

The show is directed by Cirque veteran Michel Laprise, best known for his collaborations with Madonna, providing artistic direction for her 2012 Super Bowl appearance, and subsequently directing her hugely popular MDNA tour.

Weird but great

It's like Wes Anderson and Tim Burton teamed up to direct a circus. It was weird and amazing and funny. I sat in the very last back row and I could see everything perfectly fine with no issue, none of the seats were very far from the stage, and as far as I could tell there were no areas that had obscured lines of sight. We ate at the bistro inside the Agora market before hand since they are offering a free tapas dish when you have your ticket for Kurios. Definitely made for a well rounded evening. ... Read more
