Outspoken activist and alt rocker goddess Amanda Palmer has been pushing boundaries since bursting onto the scene in the early 2000's as one half of the cabaret/indie-rock duo The Dresden Dolls. A pioneer of crowd funding, her solo career has seen the fearless embrace of a new music model that allows for an open exchange between musician and audience.
This DIY and hands-on attitude has certainly ruffled some feathers, but Palmer is first and foremost a theatrical provocateur, tackling political and social issues through her music. In contrast to her dark subject matter, her songs are upbeat and hook-laden, witty and mischievous. Armed with her trusty ukulele, Palmer boldly goes where many will one day follow.
