Oregon Symphony - Schubert and Strauss

Oregon Symphony - Schubert and Strauss at Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall

Why see Oregon Symphony - Schubert and Strauss?

Classical Music To Dance To

The Oregon Symphony Orchestra bring us a program of classical masterpieces inspired by the art of dance! Taking the spotlight is Schubert's eighth symphony, the Unfinished Symphony, as well as Strauss' magnificent Der Rosenkavalier Suite. Further playfulness is brought to the program with Piazzola's South American dance-tinged Four Seasons of Buenos Aires and a brand new commission by Giancarlo Castro.

A buoyant and passionate tale of bourgeois romance, Strauss' Der Rosenkavalier was a hit with audiences right from its 1911 premiere. Schubert's Unfinished Symphony is meanwhile a testament to the composer's genius, embodying both the melancholic beauty and the unresolved mystery that have made it a timeless favorite in the classical repertoire.
