Why See The Shins?
Led by James Mercer, Portland indie king The Shins got their big break when music from their debut record was featured in Zach Braff's directorial debut Garden State. While the movie's insistence that the band's 'New Slang' will change your life has become something of eye-roll inducing quote, The Shins themselves went from strength to strength, and have been producing breezy, whip-smart indie rock ever since. With only Mercer remaining from the original line-up, The Shins gifted the world their latest in 2017 in Heartworms, a candid and playful effort that added a more noticeable synth edge to the mix.
Catch The Shins playing cuts from throughout their enviable back catalogue, from 'Caring is Creepy' through to 'The Fear', when they play McMenamins Historic Edgefield Manor in Troutdale, OR, Closed June 21, 2017.
